Brane Inflation is Attractive
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the phase space of initial conditions for brane inflation, and find that including the effects of the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) kinetic term dramatically improves previous estimates on the amount of fine tuning of initial conditions necessary for inflation, even for models dominated by slow roll. Two effects turn out to be important for the phase space analysis: restrictions on the total available phase space due to UV effects in brane inflation, and the extension of the inflationary attractor to the DBI inflationary regime. We compare the amount of initial conditions fine tuning required for a brane inflation model and its standard field theory counterpart and find that brane inflation decreases the required tuning by several orders of magnitude. † Email: [email protected]

F-term, D-term and hybrid brane inflation
We study inflation and reheating in models for the brane universe, considering hybrid brane inflation without tachyon condensation. We expect that some fields that are localized on different branes interact with O(1) coupling when branes are on top of each other, while the interaction vanishes when branes are separated at a distance. If the interaction is needed to avoid spontaneous breaking of...

The D3/D7 inflation is studied in the framework of Type 0B string theory. Due to the presence of the closed string tachyon, the constant gauge field flux on the transverse worldvolume of D7-brane is almost arbitrary in having an attractive inflaton potential energy. Besides, a positive cosmological constant appears in this model whose magnitude is related to the volume modulus of the D7-brane t...
متن کاملLensed Density Perturbations in Braneworlds: An Alternative to Perturbations from Inflation
We consider a scenario in which our observable universe is a 3-dimensional surface (3-brane) living in extra dimensions with a warped geometry. We show that “lensed” density perturbations from other branes serve as possible seeds for structure formation on our observable brane (without inflation), and, in addition, provide constraints on braneworld scenarios with warped bulk geometry. Due to th...
متن کاملWarped Wilson Line DBI Inflation
We propose a novel inflationary scenario in string theory in which the inflaton field is aWilson line degree of freedom in the worldvolume of a probe Dp-brane, in a warped flux compactification. Kinetic terms for Wilson line fields on the world volume of a D-brane take a nonstandard DiracBorn-Infeld (DBI) form. Thus, we work in the framework of DBI inflation. This extends the original slow roll...
متن کاملWilson Line Inflation
We present a general set-up for inflation in string theory where the inflaton field corresponds to Wilson lines in compact space in the presence of magnetic fluxes. T -dualities and limits on the value of the magnetic fluxes relate this system to the standard D-brane inflation scenarios, such as brane-antibrane inflation, D3/D7 brane inflation and different configurations of branes at angles.
